Cranio-Sacral for Babies

by Richard Kramer, Crouch End based craniosacral therapist
Is your baby restless, having problems with sucking, or experiencing sleeping difficulties?  There may also be signs of colic, especially in the early evening.  The good news is that cranio-sacral therapy can help.

This form of therapy helps the body to self repair and because it’s so gentle babies love receiving it.  One of cranio-sacral’s appreciated qualities is its ablility to resolve issues with newborn babies, which usually occur during the first twelve weeks of life and can be very distressing for all concerned.  The reason for these symptoms is not always straightforward, but they often follow a prolonged birth, even when the baby had no signs of distress - they can be a consequence of shock and pressure created by the powerful uterine contractions on the baby’s spine and in particular on the relatively soft bones of the baby’s head. which are designed to move during birth but don’t always return to optimal position.  This can lead to the variety of familiar conditions described above, but is also true with emergency caesareans and births involving forceps or assisted by suction.

Parents are frequently relieved and amazed by the significant improvements from just one or two sessions of craniosacral therapy, and of course baby is happy too!
