Sensorial Re-Education - for something really different

Imagine that everything in your life is going really well, outwardly you are fulfilled, you know what you are doing & where you are going; but inside, things are very different. You feel a deep sense of unease, out of sync, a nagging pain keeps coming back, there is an anxiety or a feeling of emptiness which makes you feel dissatisfied with your life.
I have some questions for you: in all this, what is your body to you? Do you really feel it? Is it your friend, your enemy, a stranger? Do you only feel it when it gives you pain & disrupts your life, or when it gives you pleasure? But what about in your daily life? Does it exist then? Do you listen to its messages? Are you aware of the sensations inside you & of your thoughts, of how they interrelate & influence your actions?
Sensorial Re-education is a groundbreaking approach which offers a new perspective on health based on the recognition that body & mind are closely interlinked & influenced by each other, and that this link is expressed in action. As Westerners, we are very focussed on the mind & give it immense value, but somehow we have forgotten that we exist in a body, or we often only treat it as an object. And as a result the fine balance between body & mind is disturbed, leading to ill-health.
Whereas the notion of psychosomatic disorders (the physical expression of a psychological difficulty) is well accepted, the reverse mechanism (the psychological impact of physical symptoms) remains generally unexplored. This is one of the main areas of action of Sensorial re-education: through work on the body with touch & movement, to release the physical tensions & pain at the root of psychological difficulties; through an increased awareness of the sensations within the body & a reflection based on them, to develop a new relationship to yourself & your environment, & reclaim the body as a sensitive partner in your life.
The objective of Sensorial Re-education is to restore mobility, sensitivity & awareness to all parts of the body, using three complementary techniques:
Fasciatherapy-somatology: a manual therapy to relieve tension & pain
Sensorial Training: a movement therapy to improve mobility & expression
Verbal dialogue: to engage a thought process based on a new experience of the body
The applications are numerous, from the relief of chronic pain & tension, to the resolution of psychological difficulties & support in a personal transformation process.
