Babies Love Massage Too
We all know that massage is good for us, but did you know that it’s great for babies too? In many cultures, baby massage is taken for granted, but we ourselves are only just beginning to realise the benefits of this ancient practice.
Julia Kudratt, who runs baby massage classes for new parents in North London, says: “Touch is really important for all of us, but especially so for babies as it’s one of the few means of communication they have.”
Research has shown that babies who are regularly massaged sleep better (this fact alone should have many parents flocking to their nearest baby massage course) and that it stimulates healthy growth, flexibility and muscle strength.
There are many other benefits, including a stronger immune system, better health and enhanced body awareness for the baby. And one of the most important effects of baby massage is that it strengthens the relationship between parents and baby. The classes also offer a relaxing and enjoyable ‘time out’ for parents.
Julia Kudratt offers four week courses, visits to groups and private tuition in baby massage. She can be contacted on 020 8373 2504 or on julemaret@hotmail.com.
