Nia - Transformational Movement for Body, Mind & Spirit - N6 & N1
Nia is the original fusion fitness workout; tonic for body, mind, emotions and spirit; anchored in body science and healing arts; wildly fun, and deeply personal: the fitness approach that captures the zeitgeist of our time. Or, as the New York Times put it, “just plain exhilarating”.
Revolutionary at its inception over 20 years ago, yet still cutting-edge, Nia advocates moving with “the pleasure principle”. By bringing awareness to the body and following its natural design, Nia delivers increased well-being and healing of the whole person.
Blending movements and principles from dance, healing arts and the martial arts, Nia is a deceptively powerful cardiovascular workout that cross-trains the body into greater strength, flexibility and balance.
Students dance bare-foot to an eclectic mix of music, combining choreography and freeform movement. In a welcoming, community atmosphere, there is no pressure to perform or be anything other than fully yourself.
Men and women of any age, fitness level or dancing ability can practice Nia, where the focus is on increasing awareness of physical sensation and consciously choosing an individual range of motion, expression and exertion level.
The benefits of Nia are far-ranging and build over time. They include growth in: physical fitness, mental agility, emotional integration and spiritual awareness.
